second, a touring screen that does'nt make the bike look stupid  keeps the air off the chest and easilly comes off and on .
oh by the way ,went on the trip with 2 other guys they were on harleys and a part [shifter] fell off one and the other totally broke down twice unfortunatley the2nd time was on a sunday no service so my buddy called his wife to come get him and i rode back alone ,which i enjoyed :)

I too would like to have a new seat made for my R, but the money isnt there, especially since I just spent $400 some dollars to get my rims fixed from my last long road trip. That will be a different thread for when I actually get the rims back and see if they are straight! Any way, before that road trip, I bought a buttpad from Alaska Leather Company. Yes you get some odd looks from folks when they see a sheepskin on your seat, but then again, 2 or 3 hours in the saddle is probably a lot to them. The first day of my trip, I did 13 hours in the saddle. I could feel it, yes, but I was not miserable. The next 2 days I was a good 10 hours each day on the bike with no problems. The pad clips off quite easily, took mine off each night to keep from getting rained on or from having someone mess with the bike. When I get enough money saved up, I will get another seat, but until then and until I get some other things bought for the bike, I happy with the $35 I spent.

Why buy a new seat if you can do those sort of hours without too
much discomfort? I would have been happy if a sheep skin fixed my aches.
I have Sargents, but no miricle cure for me unfortunately. :(
I like the look of the Rick Mayer saddle, but have only seen photos, not the real thing.

Beekstersocal, I am 5' 11", around 220lbs, but (pun) what suits me, might not suit you.
I have had Corbins, and Sargents before on other Beemers, and none are all that startling.
I have a "faulty" but anyway, so I am going to have trouble with what ever I use.
I battle to get much more than 2 hours before I have to either stand on the pegs, or get off for a while. And, that is with either standard, or Sargents.
The only bike I could ever sit on in comfort, was my Harley Heritage Springer. Big tractor style seat, magic. :D

6'4" 255lbs and I swear by my Sargent seat... Stocker had me in agony after 30 minutes... Rode 10 hours on my Sargent last month... I'm not saying my butt wasn't tired, but the difference for me is amazing. Of course, YMMV...

I'm one who likes (fits?) the stock seat. I regularly do thousand Km days, and only added a sheep skin for my 16,000 kms around Aus in 21 days. I'm planning another run of 7,200 kms in 9 days (800 a day average), and will only add the skin again.

I find that if I only have short trips, or don't ride for a few weeks, that the stock seat loses some comfort. It's the regular use that keeps you and the seat in shape. A small thing called 'ride fitness'. Regular riding helps prevent the sore arms, wrists, legs and arse.

If the skin worked, just stick with it. The aftermaket replacement seats are great for irregular use and often give a false sense of comfort, but nothing beats time on the bike for developing the right muscle and bum strength to withstand the long days.

I've had Sargents and Corbins on other bikes. The Corbins were all tops for comfort and quality. On my current Roadster, I had the seat re-done by Cee Bailey. It looks terrific (black with red piping) and is way better than that stock board.

I have the Russell seat. It is about 4320 times better than the stock low or high seat. The stock seat was so bad that I had plans to ride my R100R(also with Russell seat) to Vermont in July if the new Russell seat didn't show up in time.

Russell will re-work the seat til it is perfect for you. I sent the one for my R100R back twice for free adjustments.

I can ride all day comfortably on either bike now.

Corbins on both bikes. Seating is now "non-issue" (stocker was stinker)...I don't even think about it anymore...which is the result I was looking for.

Good point, MIXR, about getting "conditioned" to the Roadster seat. I found that the more I rode my R1150R, the more riding I could take without getting uncomfortable. I wish all my problems could be fixed by riding more.
