I was thinking about creating a topic and see if you would like to learn a little Icelandic tounge, since I'm from Iceland and I live there I can teach you a few words and sentence, I speak Icelandic but I have to write english here for you to understand me.
I'm just gonna' check how many want to learn and I'll teach you something, you can also come with words from english or sentence and I can translate them to Icelandic and teach you

Aaahhh . . . What memories this post has just jogged. In the USNAF I served temporary duty, for 141 days, on the Naval Air Station in Keflavik, Iceland. Tracking Russian submarines was the focus of our P-3 Orion's sorties whiile the cold war was in full swing. It was about 1969 and lucky for us it was the fair summer season where it was daylight for almost 24 hours. The Sun rose, set on the horizon and rose again for another very long day. The liquid-like Northern Lights were so prominently vivid it looked like an Industrial Light & Magic crew was artificially projecting them. I spent hours just watching the white liquid light gracefully flow against the deep dark blue sky of the vast surrounding wilderness. The Naval barracks had BLACK roll-down window shades so you can sleep in daylight. Because the ocean's warm Gulf Stream wraps around the southern shores of the Islandic Island, the weather there was actually milder than the same calendar date at our VP-10 squadron's home in Brunswick Maine. Sadly, the patrol squadron that replaced us would see the cold winter part where it would be NIGHT time almost all the time. Around Christmas time they would see the sun barely rise, then set again for the very long night.
I was told by officers before going there that there was a woman behind every tree. I was elated until I finally got there and saw what looked like the desolate, craggy, Winter parts of Colorado and Arizona. The Icelandic volcano erupted big-time when I was there but I regretfully did not travel to see it. I saw an entire city heated only by geothermal hotsprings water discretly piped throughout it. Not a single chimney in sight on any structure and the air was pristeen. I discovered a population that is peaceful, aloof and highly educated.
If you're a nature lover and want to go somewhere unique, for rare experiences, where practically no one has ever been, Iceland is the place. Just don't go in winter unless all you want is Wintery nite-life.
