Not bad. I still need to see one of the new F800 bikes. I think realistically, if my next bike was going to be a BMW, I would be looking at the F800.

That MegaMoto looks crazy - not seen that one before.

Too much fairing. Not enough naked. Blue sucks.

Here is what a minion over on the Kbike forum said on page 4 of their R-Sport Thread:

"What a bunch of marketing mumbo jumbo BS. So many words to say so little. This is what they mean:

"It's an R with a small fairing therefore will perform slightly better at higher speeds."

Says what needs saying and moves it along.

That blue is a really nice color.

Fairing and front fender....it's a shame they don't improve the seat (or offer a comfort seat option) for better pillion comfort.

Dag nab it! I've got too much furniture to buy for my new house. Meanwhile, BMW keeps making bikes I want to buy.

Can they put their development on hold for a year or two and let my wallet catch up?

Mike - do they let Baby Boomers buy K bikes? I thought you were too old for these...

I am too old for many things but not for motorcycling on good fast naked bikes (any color but blue).

Found this in the Intermot press release:

EVO brake system and Integral ABS as an option.
The new K 1200 R Sport is fitted as standard with BMW MotorradÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s proven EVO brake system also featured on other models in the K- and R-Series. With brake disc diameter of 320 mm / 12.60" at the front and 265mm / 10.43" at the rear, this brake system is simply ideal for excellent stopping power also when riding fast and dynamically. And the flexible steel brake lines featured as standard on the EVO brake system not only look good, but also ensure a consistent pressure point at all times.

The new generation of BMW Motorrad Integral ABS with semi-integral function introduced in summer 2006 is available as an optional extra. This system controls the front and rear wheel brakes from the handbrake lever, while the footbrake lever acts exclusively on the brake at the rear as a configuration particularly well-suited for the sports-minded motorcycle rider.

I take this to mean that the bike comes as standard without ABS, and that 'new generation' ABS is available as an extra-cost option. Would that be the whiney servo-assisted ABS as on the 1200GS / ST / RT, or is the 1200R non-servo type the 'new generation' please?

I just saw the Blue Sport for the first time at the Seattle Show last weekend. I just could not get enough of it. The Blue is nice. The fit and feel of the bike is great. I just kept going back and swinging my leg over, pulling it up and rocking it gently...felt nice, balanced, easy reach....I agree the seat is ...funny....sort of a one piece oddly molded thing...( I never carry a passenger) this seat has an earie suppository shape to it.

Each year after the show we go to eat and have to announce at the table our five favorite bikes of the show....

It made my list.

I'm beginning to think that this is going to be my next bike. I've been wanting to add a 4 cylinder machine to my stable, and the R Sport looks like a good sport tourer with an emphasis on sport.
