gary - nice rig! My wife and I looked at RVs for a while and a Sprinter conversion something like the Sportsmobile model posted looked pretty good. They too claim the 22+ mpg figure! The RV is on hold for a few years though.
And I have also figured out that a bike would fit back there. Build in a ramp, fold down seats and bed when the bike is out . . . Heck, I could sell my house!
And I agree about the headlights! Pregancy and childbirth works wonders!

22+ mpg is accurate. I've heard as high as 27mpg, but I'm getting 22 so far, which is still way better than the 11 mpg I was getting in my gas powered GMC cargo van.
Next year's engine's will be different. The Mercedes inline 5 will be replaced - a V6 gas engine, a V6 turbo diesel, and an inline 5 diesel (not the Mercedes) are rumored to be available (Italian engines, I believe). They will be more expensive.
New smog control equipment is going to reduce emissions on all diesel vehicles, but also add a $5,000 to $8,000 price premium to diesel cars and trucks. I think I bought at the right time.
