Another Newbie

Hello Everyone,

I got my 2002 ABS R1150R about two weeks ago. It has 15K on the clock and is yellow with Hepco bags, and seems to be in perfect shape. I also have a naked 1982 R100 that I've been riding for a few years.

So far I love the R1150R, but it needs a couple of ergonomic improvements. First, I'm going to install bar risers. Does anyone know whether I will need to replace the brake line or other control cables?

Also, I'm trying to decide whether to go with a Sargeants Seat or see if something like an Airhawk cushion would be good enough. I've read some of the archives on this issue, but if anyone has opinions I'd love to hear them.

I swear by my Sargent seat. Great product and well worth the investment. The stock seat killed my butt after 30 minutes. Sargent is firmer and wider in the important spots. I ride w/out pain now.
I put Moto Technique risers on my Rockster and did not have to deal with changing anything about the brake cables... They're reasonably priced, too, at $40.00 a set.

Three months ago I was in your position. I put a set of used verholen risers on by only cutting the plastic ties near the handlebar neck, they are way too tight anyway. I bought a sargent seat and after 1500 miles still don't like it. I am now looking for something more fitted. Sargents are not scooped and I can't find a sweet spot on them. Both my other bikes have corbin solo seats and after 1000 miles they are real comfortable. I went with some of the groups opinions to select the Sargent. Each of us hasa different shaped butt so try some out before you buy. After my next seat arrives my Sargent is for sale. Looking to try Bill MAyers, Rick Mayers and of course a Russell. I also lowered the footpegs and added extenders on the shifter and brake, no missed shifts or missed brake connections.

I tried Sargent - and while a fine seat - just not for me. I've been on Corbin's for awhile now, and seating on both my bikes is a "non issue".
