I am after opinions re what is thought to be the best option for cylinder head protection...the BMW style guards or the crash bar style.
I like the idea of the bars but I'm a bit concerned about the extra width and weight. I don't intend on falling over ,but...
I am planning a longish trip and with a fair bit of gear in panniers and bags and just would feel more secure.

Bit off topic but single650 would you mind posting some pics of your rockster? I recently ordered the bars and was thinking about the lights but wasn't so sure if they would look nice. The exchange rate is supposedly pretty good at the moment too.
I picked up the wunderlich crash bars, but when I started to install them it looked like it would limit my cornering capability. I havn't had any problems but then I'm a booby 
They don't look like they are going to be a problem they are only proud of the cylinders by about 1/2" at the maximum and they sweep away nicely underneath.
If I hadn't acquired the bike with them the cost would have put me off but the fit is very close and well designed. They just stick out far enoiugh for the bike to rest on them on its side without any of the shiny bits touching. The finish appears good too.

I have finally decided to go with the Hepco&Becker engine bars. They do spoil the smooth looks but I feel a lot more comfortable having them there. (especially after seeing the result of DJ's mishap.) Thus far they have shown no problems in regard to cornering clearance (at least at my level of risk)
The bars fitted up very easily with no problems and seem to be extremely strong. Being black they fit in as well as they can on the Rockster.
As an aside I also fitted the wheel cap that Keith Haynes has available...my advice :don't mess about with anything else, just get one of these. It looks great and fits perfect.
