Electrical Fuses Info

Okay I'm off another little project unrelated to motorcycles and I need some electrical (not automotive) assistance from some savvy member here.

You can PM me and we'll take this off the board.

I need to know what kind of fuse and fuse cover to buy for a small shrink-wrap wand heating element power-to-heat transformer. It's old and I have no manual and the fuse with the bayonet holder is missing.

It operates on 115 VAC 50/60 Hz 350 Watts

"a" marks the little red light that tells me it's on.
"b" marks the place where the fuse is supposed to be.

I want to just pull out that fuse connector and put one of my own in there with a cover from Radio Shack. But I have no idea what size fuse to use for this.

Any takers?

3 amp with at least a 125vac rating, slo-blow. Slow, because of the inductive load (which will 'inrush' more current than steady state operation). 3amps X 115vac = 345watts. Curiously, the neutral is fused in that picture - generally, not a good idea. Hot, or the black wire, should be fused.

That was a fast reply. I took out the fuse holder (it looks identical to one that Radio Shack carries) and soldered off the wire connections.

I couldn't find a 3 amp slow-blow fuse that was any closer to 125vac rated than 250vac. I assume that one will work. Tomorrow I will go and get the fuse and holder and put the old baby back to work.
