Cross Country BMW in New Jersey

Question for you Jersey brethren -

I went by Cross Country BMW on Middlesex Ave near Edison last night to pick up a few bottles of synth. I noticed they also sell Ducs as well. Their showroom is a bit small - which isn't surprising given the cost of real estate in NJ, but they had a good assortment of bikes nonetheless. They had a nice K1200GT sitting out in the parking lot ready to be demo'd. Too bad I didn't have my gear with me...

Anyhoo, I'm going to be riding up to NJ on a regular basis this summer and was wondering how good this dealer is for service. My home dealer in Virginia is 90 miles away in Lynchburg, which is not on the way to any particular place unless I decide to take slower back roads to Richmond. So it's a bit of an inconvenience to get serviced there. If I get service in Edison (Exit 3 on I-287), it's not far from my clients in NJ/NYC. I could conceivably get work performed there on a Saturday before I head south back to VA.

If any of you have any experiences you can convey, please do so. Thanks in advance!

p.s. - they had a HP2 there as well. IMO, it looks cooler in photos than it does in person.

When I lived in the Philadelphia area, I heard good things about Cross Country BMW. Never had any BMW's service there 'cause my local dealer was only three miles from my home. (Devon, BMW)

So Cross Country has taken on Ducati, eh? Guess BMWNA's insisting dealerships sell one brand only is another scheme that didn't last!!

A momentary sidetrack here: As I rode near Kingman Arizona last January, I noticed a Harley Davidson/Honda/Yamaha dealership....in one building. I wonder how the *Motor Company* feels about sharing showroom space with what some Harley nuts call rice burners??

CC BMW is an all around great shop. I've bought 2 new bikes from them in the last 3 1/2 years and they do all my service.

Their svc manager, Brian Donovan, is a friend and good guy. Their techs are also excellent. Scott the sales mgr has taken care of my during the sales process.

You're right, it's a small store but they do own the white building in the rear of the parking lot and I think they will be expanding. I've seen that new GT on the floor also. I refuse to test ride it becuase if I do I'll wind up buying the damn thing.

If you ever need to drop your bike off there and need a ride let me know.

I'm about 15 minutes away in Cranford. Let me know next time you're up in NJ and we'll do sushi again.

That is good news. Thanks for the info guys. Getting my bike serviced in Northern NJ nearly 500 miles away from home would ironically enough make my riding life easier!

I've been really, really busy Tony. Been working at the cusp of exhaustion for three months now and am looking forward to a break from work this upcoming week. I'm getting cranky, impatient, and always in a hurry. so my ride down to Mississippi will afford me several days of nothing but riding. I'm of course looking forward to assisting with the rebuilding project in Gulfport. My last long-distance motorcycle trip was in mid-November, so I'm long overdue for a nice ride.

Life is always good when seen from the saddle of a motorcycle. My soul needs the therapy.
