Centech Fuse Box Question

Post by Boxer »

I want to install one of these Centech AP-1 fuse boxes under my seat.

I went to the Centech site and it shows the 8 terminals to hook an accessory power wire to, but I'm confused about the grounding. Does anyone have knowledge of how this thing works and can tell me what I do with the ground wire of my accessory. I'm hooking up my Hella FF50 lights (the lights have their own relay) and I also want to put in another cigarette power plug per Robbies instructions. I'll probably also wire in my air compressor to it as well for convenience.

Phil, There is a thread from a Washington, DC BMW group's board showing a Centech mounted over the air filter box (of an RT, I think). This group talks more about tech and maintenance than any other I've found (maybe I should join, since they would be my local BMW group too).

I have a link for thread, but don't know if it's appropriate to post a link to another board. If it is, just let me know and I'll post it here sometime today.

Thanks.

Sure, go ahead and post it. Or if you're in doubt just PM me with the link.

Could it be the same one in the "jabrooks" link I posted above?

Thanks. I'm not electrically literate, but I can follow detailed directions. It just confuses me about what to do with the ground wires on this thing. There seems to be only one connection to it for power and it isn't clear if I have to go ahead and ground the accessory somewhere else.

The pictures of the Centech are a little more than halfway down the page. I bet the owner of the bike would not mind responding directly to your question about where to ground specific items--you may be able to figure it out looking at the pictures. The folks on that board seem very willing to help.

Good luck,
Mike

Yes! Much clearer now! Thanks a lot. It appears from these photos that the power connections are one side where the fuses are and the ground connections are on the opposite side. I could not see this in other photos.

I'm ordering one today.

You should. We have a lot of fun over there. The message board is really active. Lots of RTE's (Ride To Eat) and Tech Days.

Hi everybody.

Don't mean to hijack the thread. Now back to your regularly scheduled topic
