The biggest Christmas present ever

Thought I'd provide an update on our little boy! He's doing extremely well, eating like a starved Clydesdale and sleeping pretty well too. His baby acne is almost completely cleared up and he's all smily and giggly when we lean in and chat with him in our high-pitched baby voices. He's just the cutest little bugger ever.

Meanwhile, his birth parents are not doing so well, unfortunately. These 21-year old kids are pretty far down on their luck, although they always try to sound optimistic on the phone. Just to clarify, the adoption was an open one, in which we have fairly regular contact with them. They're struggling to make the rent as they're both out of a job, and I'm concerned that they're just one step from being homeless. That will not happen if I have anything to say about it.

We really feel for them and want to help somehow. One idea that I had was to build a computer out of the many parts that I have laying around the house and then help them get some kind of job that they can do through that computer and the Internet. Any ideas in that department? Or, if you live in the Mesa/Tempe, AZ area, do you know of any suitable employment opportunities? If I recall correctly, they both have high school diplomas.

I'm open to any and all suggestions in how to help them. If you can spare some time, my fellow riding brothers and sisters, I'd much appreciate it on behalf of the two people who brought so much joy into our lives in the form of little Alex.

You're a kind soul Capt. For what its worth, I don't know what kind of opportunities there are in the area you're in. The oilfiled is booming. I hear that in the Rockies, they are begging for people. Granted, they would like experience but I suspect they are willing to train. One article I read had a manager quoting "If you want a job, all you have to do is pass the drug test". I suspect he's being a little colorful but there are opportunities.

Thanks for the update! Children are the greatest treasure in life.

I think the computer is a good idea. Internet access is still not a necessity and you're not going to be buying internet access if you can't pay rent, but it is a useful tool. I would go so far as to suggest them hitting a library or other free access facility and setting up a free email account. You never know when soemthing as small as an email address will sway a potential employer.
