I am having a problem with my Rock. I have recently had a few times when I would be 60-70mph and the bike would jump out of 6th into 5th. I am not sure if it is something I am doing. the first couple of times I thought that my foot might have been resting on the top of the shifter so I moved it up a little more, and then it did it agin yesterday. It has happened at times when I was driving hard and when I was just cruising along. I believe that I am probably to blame with my foot placement or not properly engaging the tranny when I shifted there in the first place. I would just like to get your masters of knowlege advice before I go to the dealer and possible make myself look like some sort of Squiddy Doofus.
Thanks,
Tommy

Go to your dealer about it..I've heard of it happening before..never happened to me though..don't say you think it may be your fault..what year is your bike.?
DJ,
It's an 04 Rock. I bought it from my Father in Law and he never had that problem, and he put 18,000mi on it. I have only put 6,000 on it so far. Thats what makes me think it is rider error. I probably will make the trip to the dealer and have them look at it before the warranty is up.
Thanks,
Tommy
I've had it happen a lot - but generally it's when I'm concentrating on something else (eg the sports bike I'm chasing) and my up-change hasn't been firm enough. Sometimes you can get away with a hasty change, sometime you can't - that's the way the 'box is designed and built. It'll last the lifetime of the bike - but it's not designed for ultra-fast changes.
I've had it happened to me when I didn't do a proper shift (both the Rock and the Tuono), but it wouldn't just pop out of gear after the shift was done.
Cogito Ergo Vroom - I think therefore I ride.

My Roadster is doing the exact same thing. It also hangs up between 1st and 2nd sometimes and I have to back off the gas to get the shifter to drop down for the shift into third. Mine is going to the dealer next Saturday for the annual and 18K service. I will let you know what they say.
Yer wanted by the police and my wife thinks your dead.
My Roadster has slipped out of 4th into neutral about 4 times in its first 5k.not sure if its a big problem though,or if its just that clunky transmission.
Lookin for a place to happen, making stops along the way.
I took my Roadster in for the 18K service they checked everything out and found no problems. The service manager suggested I might be resting my toes on the shifter at crusing speeds, we shall see.

I have had this happen on my 02' when I am in a hurry going through the gears to get on the freeway or down-up-down shift on passing. I have noticed with the boxer that you have to give a solid shift and think about what you are doing. Daydreaming and/or quick shifts will get you.
On another shifting note. I just changed my tranny fluid to synthetic. What a difference. Nice and smooth.
