LandRover 1 v Rockster 0

Post by mdouglas »

Poor old RiceBurner had a big "Off" a few days ago. He has a broken hand and lots of tender bits, but otherwise he's OK. The same cannot be said for the Rockster. The full story and pics can be found here:

Geees RiceBurner that's bad luck.... :|

It could have been worse..and broke both hands like Charley Boorman...and then need an official arse wiper to follow you around.. :D

Hope you're feeling better soon and get back on your bike...or another bike.. :(

Found this for those interested in RiceBurners accident.

Right - just spoke to RB and he is thankfully alright. He has not broken his pelvis, although he tells me he is currently walking like John Wayne. He has broken a bone in his hand, and for those who are interested it is his wanking hand, but now I think about it, I forgot to ask which one that is.

He is out of hospital, and spoke to me from a McDonalds somewhere. He wanted to thank everyone for posting, and said he will post up when he gets home later.

The accident happened when RB was overtaking a line of five cars. An Alfa went for an overtake within the line of cars in front of RB, but pulled in fast and slowed very quickly, causing the Land Rover it has just overtaken to slam on the anchors and turn hard right, causing it to spin. RB's move was to bring him in behind the Land Rover, but its sudden loss of speed left him no options. He said he hit it at about 25 mph, although his approach speed was much more than that.

So, a somewhat unusual accident, and another good one to add to the RB Cannon.

He doesn't know what condition the bike is in, but its probably wrecked.

Glad to hear RB is okay, anybody care to speculate - replacement Rockster or K12R?

We've already got a K.... ;)

Still at home recuperating, and have heard from Vines, where the bike has been taken, that it's likely to be a write off, dependant on frame damage. The telelever arm is damaged too. I'm just hoping I can recover all the personalised bits before it gets whisked away by the insurance company.

Many thanks for all the good wishes, they do make a big difference. :D

RiceBurner,

That's a shame that you had to suffer such injuries. In the US, there are lots of used Rocksters running around, so if you really want another one bad enough... :D
Cogito Ergo Vroom - I think therefore I ride.

Really sorry to hear about this, Rice. Just read through the visordown web and seen all the posts: so I'm just another rider saying Get Well Soon, then, mate. I've been there and it is not very nice at all.

Pics of your bike look horrendous. Good luck with the insurance claims.
