Anyway, I thought this might be a fun thread, so I'll lead off, then you guys ante up the ones you'd like to create.
These images are "my" '84 R100RS that now has a very happy home with a buddy in East Texas.
It was bone stock when I got it and later moderately modified as you see it here (recent pictures). The frame, suspension, cosmetics and a lot of other things were tweaked for power, handling, brakes, "living on the road" on long trips, sounding good and looking good. I took it about as far as you can go towards making it the best sport touring bike I could without spending much more money than it was worth.
Many of the chassis and engine mods on this bike were catalog parts from San Jose BMW and were developed there on our friend Dean-O's watch...thanks!
But I still dream about this sweetheart of a motorcycle...
The R100RS was the first production bike that had a fairing designed with a wind tunnel, and was the first production bike with a fairing to go faster *with* the fairing than without.
They are comfortable, smooth, dependable, and will handle if you don't mind using more than a little muscle. Same with the brakes, but hey - it's a 1984 with late 70's technology.
Anyway, here's my fantasy: Transplant this beautiful bodywork onto a new R1200ST! The best of all possible worlds.
