Missing topic re. Dallara - a well liked member
Moderator: Moderators
Life on the board is not perfect.
Moderators sometimes take what some of us perceive to be over-energetic reactions to stuff that is posted.
Rules seem to change - or go from being unenforced to enforced - with no advance warning.
People get pissed with people. And when they are passionate, they get really pissed with each other.
And then there are the times when the same old topics turn up. Likely because we have some new members on the board who just want to feel that they are contributing to the community. Or the politicians have pulled the same old bullcrap again.
So at any point in time, you will find people who find the board too restrictive. You will find people who find the board too liberal. You will find people who find the board repetitive and boring. And you will find people who find the board for the first time and think "Wow"!
So the board emulates life.
It is a living, breathing, thing that reflects our collective individuality (huh?). It's only as good as those of us who choose to hang around, or those of us who choose to leave.
There are days I want to read raging anger on the site. There are days when I just want to bask in the warm hugs of well intentioned words.
Give me variety. Or give me death.
Don't homogenize.
Otherwise my inane ramblings will make less sense than they already do.
Have I mentioned I miss Dallara? (and I mean that sincerely)

Dear Lance,
Blah blah blah...
Love,
Doug
Yes, about what I expected Doug. My post was a pretty accurate summary I think...
Now, what brand of synthetic oil is best?

Well, Frank...
Well, Frank...
I don't know if I am still around, or have come back. One thing that will obviously be gone from my posts on the board are my freedom of expression. This post, or this thread, or even my "lifetime membership" could be zapped into the ozone at any moment. I just wish we all really knew what was going on...
Drop me a PM when you get a chance.
Dallara
(please note there are no more "Cheers!" in my posts...)

Re: Well, Frank...
That's one of the problems. Most of you will not recall when the owner was asking users to ante up again, even after they'd already paid. They forget, and then they are treated like this.Dallara wrote:...even my "lifetime membership" could be zapped into the ozone at any moment. I just wish we all really knew what was going on...
There MUST be a Roadster rider who is skilled at operating a website who can kindly offer to take over this burden (that Doug oft complains of), perhaps with the help of with a responsible treasurer to handle all members' money and who can account for all the so-called "life memberships."
By the way, what have you been told is your recourse as a life member if after payment, one day you try to log on, and you cannot?
This has never been well thought out. Improvement and accounting is needed, and no time like the present!

Just a troll, eh? Here, read this from the owner:
So don't pretend what I say doesn't resonate with other members. You know it's the truth. (Or, see above photo of head in sand.)...If the board becomes a source of frustration, negativity and chaos, then it will find itself just like most of the other message boards on the net.. full of useless posts, people who only post to hear themselves talk and generally just a waste of bandwidth. I can tell you that if this happens, I will personally lose interest in keeping it going and it will eventually disappear. The board is so much of a financial and time strain on me as it is, if it gets worse, I just can not rationally see why I would continue to foster it.

"Did someone say something? Oh well, must have been the wind."
Mark,
Are you old enough to recall the "sound of one hand clapping" comments of the 60's? If not, perhaps it's time to bring it back. I think it may pertain to our "guest."
I'm quite sure our "guest" is a member who lacks the courage to post under his name. I really don't think it is the common, garden variety "troll." It is a shame he/she can't just say what they have to say without the nom de plume.
