Had my Lee Parks deer tours for 6 months and they are the best gloves I've owned yet. They quickly take a 'set' to your hands and grips and each time I put them on and grab the bars everything is right in place - if ya know what I mean. The deer skin works well in wiping mist or light rain from the visor too. Got mine from the iron butt web site because the price is the same everywhere and those guys threw in a micro-fiber cloth for free. BTW - this is my first pair of really good gloves. Previous gloves all were Olympia's. Not that they were bad it's just that these are like Cadillacs.

I'm considering the Held 'Steve' and 'Summer Fresh'

For those that have used the 'Steve' model...

Do they offer any degree rain protection? I gather they are not waterproof, but wondering if they get noticably wet or thouroughly/uncomfortably soaked in the event of heavy rain.

FYI, the Held Summer Fresh are, IMHO, the finest gloves I've owned. And hear in N. Texas they get more than four months of riding per year.

Colder than I am willing to ride in! But I will go out down to 25 or so if there is no rain or snow out. My record is riding at -5 but I was young and stupid. Now I am old and stupid but unwilling to spend the effort to gear up for single digits or below!

I've wanted to try the Held gloves for a long time but I can't find a company that will ship them to Japan.

However, I really like Firstgear gloves. Firstgear products continue to amaze me every time i try a new one. They make grat quality products that seem to work as advertised.

I ride year round, and even though the winter temperatures here in Tokyo don't really go below 25 degrees F (about -4 C) I haven't found any glove that protects completely.

Currently I use the Firstgear Winter Dakota waterproof gloves with a silk under glove. Combined with the heated grips of the Roadster, they worked very well. With my new MT-01 which has no heated grips, the jury is still out.



In the summer, I use the Firstgear Kevlar glove which provides great airflow, has nice protection and is not too snug. These have been discontinued though and i can't find a picture.

I'm not sure which gloves to recommend, but I can tell you ones that I would never buy again... ICON gloves turned my hands black everytime I rode in the rain or even heavy fog.. I assumed that this would stop after they got wet a few times, but it didn't. Great gloves for "dry" riding, but don't get caught in the wet....

In 1984 I bought a pair of BMW leather gauntlets. They were on special for OZ$28. That was probably about USD10 in those days

In 1993 I bought another pair. I started using them in 1996. I still use them. They're still in good condition.

In the 1980's I was doing 30-50K ks per year and those gloves I used year round.

Comfortable, but not waterproof. Lined, no colour washout on the skin.

based on information from this board, i went and bought a pair of Held gloves today.

I wore them on the way home, and , i love them.

they feel great.

Over here, you can go to the farm and pick your Roo, they will shoot it on the spot, two weeks later you have your gloves.......
