Anniversary Edition Rockster

Post by cdbugler »

I am searching for a shop to do some custom paint work on my Rockster, and I realized that others might be interested in the same. I plan to have the grey parts, the plate that replaces the pillion, and the luggage rack, painted blue to match the annodized blue look of the frame parts on the bike. If anyone else is interested in this, please let me know. If I find someone to do the work, I'll price it out (I assume the price will be better the greater numbers we have) and let people know what it will cost.

I would like to get the pillion plate painted but I would also like to reduce the smount of annodized blue on the bike (like getting the valve covers painted at the same time). Any chance you'd consider black?

There's a place down the road from Bob's BMW. I think it's called Bob's body shop or something like that. I think that's where Paul from Battley's got his saddle bags painted.

That's cool! How did you color the exhaust and cat?

That was easy: I used a rattle-can and spraypainted the header and the cat.

The blacked out bike looks great! I love it...unfortunately I don't really want to black mine out. I'm pretty set on the blue. I'll check the place by Bob's. I plan to go there tomorrow or wednesday. I'm also going to price it at a shop in Louisville, KY. They do great work, and I have a friend who knows most of the employees. I'll post when I know something for certain.

I can also check a price for painting the same parts matte black, but that would just be for the one other person.

I spent about 25 $ on cans to obtain the above result. Only had the wheels powdercoated, because IMHO this is more rigid compared to normal paint, especially when the tyres need changing. I did use a primer on the plastic parts first and used about 6 (thin) layers.

CH,

Did you paint or PC the valve covers? I tried to touch mine up once, couldn't get paint to stick too well. De-stickered my bike tonight.

Bill, I painted the covers. Took them off the bike, degreased them thoroughly, and first painted them with a primer, before applying three thin layers of matte-black.

Do post some pics when you're done !

Good luck,

Pieter
