Paging Yong - VT beats NCSU

Post by wncbmw »

Crap! Close but no cigar. Congrats to your VT Hokies. In a repeat seen too many times last year, an excellant defensive performance by the Wolfpack goes to waste as penalties and mistakes let your Hokies escape. Good luck the rest of the year. Maybe we can meet again in the ACC championship game. :)

BTW, my youngest, who I thought was going to NCSU in engineering said he would be interested in VT if they would give him any scholarship $ for playing in the school orchestra to offset the out-of-state tuition! :? Of course, I am hoping for the same help from NC State also. At least he isn't interested in UNC!

Roger that on UNC! I have never met such a snobby group of people as I have from Chapel Hill, which is saying something considering I've walked the grounds of UVA, Georgetown, and Columbia.

Yeah, I thought the Hokies were lucky to escape Raleigh with a W. Our defense struggled with tackling the entire night, which was very uncharacteristic of them. But the penalties the Wolfpack committed were amazing.

Tech has a nationally ranked engineering program. Your son could do a lot worse than go to Va Tech to study how to be a geek.

We are going to an engineering open house at State in October. I am certain now we will be making a trek to Blacksburg also. If I do, I'll let you know and maybe we can eat dinner and you can meet my son! I would love for him to go to State but he has to chose his own path. And VT is not a bad choice.

I had a discussion in the hall this morning with our only VT grad and we have agreed that these two schools probably have more in common than most others in the ACC as far as student bodies and areas of study.

Now we have to beat UNC!

Vann - Just let me know when you're going to be here and I'll try to be in town. Just give me a couple weeks heads up if you can.

I see a lot of parallels between Va Tech and NC State. First of all, State was the only NC school that made us feel welcome to any degree in the new league. Don't think that is forgotten here in the 'Burg.

Both are get-'er-done engineering schools without the snobbery and flair of the other dainty schools that teach their student body that wine is to be spit out. Both graduate down-to-earth people who know how to do the job and do it well without expecting the world to hand them a million bucks just for showing up. Both have football teams that win games in the trenches.

BTW - Kyaw, Paul, and Erik enjoyed meeting and hanging out a week and a half ago. We are all looking forward to hooking up with you down in WNC for next year's trip!

Nope, just me.

I tried to move it from the main board to Off-Topic...

...and totally screwed it up somehow.

It's fixified now.

Now I know I started it on Off-Topic! How did it end up in the general forum? Oh well, thanks Brian. :)

Vann - I just read that the NC State-Tech game set a record for the most viewers on ESPN2 for any college football game ever, bowl or regular season.

Good to know our alma maters have that kind of attention.

Great - a record audience watched my team blow the game with bone-head penalities!

Vann - As you know, NC State has the talent. They just need to focus better. I think Amato needs to take some draconian steps that the players will understand. I think you have one of the best teams in the ACC. You guys could have, and the argument can easily be made that you guys should have beaten us Sunday night.

I was the PA announcer for a high school JV game this week which was decided in double OT by a stupid late hit penalty. Had a flashback to the VT-State game! :(
