Suggestions for 12,000 mile service?

Post by mistercindy »

My odometer just clicked past 12,000 miles and I'll probably take it in at around 12,300 or so to the N. Dallas/Plano BMW dealership. Aside from the service I was thinking of things I might like them to do while they have it. I had two thoughts:

- Getting a gel battery installed during the 12,000 service.
- Having them put a higher intensity bulb in my light.
- Perhaps installing a electrical socket to plug in such things as a GPS, etc...

Any thoughts along those lines? Gel battery a good idea? Types of hi-intensity or white bulbs? Are they a good idea? Anything else you might think of?

I would not worry about a battery unless, you are having troubles. Batteries should last quite a while if they are maintained.

You could change the light bulb yourself. It is a fairly easy job.

I recommend switching the bulb, but there is no need to pay someone to do this. Even the most non-mechanical person (e.g. me) could do this.

Also, there is no need to buy the bulb at a motorcycle dealer. Check your local auto parts store. Buying there and installing yourself will save you enough to pay for installation of the accessory socket - which I also recommend.
