Brake dust!

I read the other brake threads and was surprised no one mentioned the excessive amount of brake dust thrown off.

Anyone recommend pads that don't throw this amount of dust?

Bottom of my engine is black with the stuff, never mind the wheels.

I don't seem to have this problem, and have used BMW and EBC pads with equal success. Then again, I seem to use a lot of engine braking with this bike and only use the brakes around town or when running hard in the hills.

Many guys I know (me included) have had comments passed to them from riders on other bikes following close behind that they have been waiting for our brake lights to come on approaching a tight bend, only to find that we just drop down a gear and sail round without touching the brakes.

It scares the crap out of them as they run in too hot! Doesn't answer your question though!

My non-linked brake bike gets a little on the rear, none on front, both with OEM and EBC pads.

QSIMDO, I concur - no one is bitchin about the dust. But I think it's really only a problem on the rear wheel (which is relatively easy to clean).

If I had wires or a more intricate wheel pattern, I would be in the hunt. B-u-t, what with the center-stand spin you can put on both wheels for quick cleaning, it really hasn't occured to me to go in search of.

There are several manufacturers for low-dust, high performance pads for cages, anyone know of any for bikes? (our bikes)

Ceramics would be the way to go, if anyone makes them for this bike I’d like to know. Their supposed to be the ‘bomb’ in all areas. Cooling, wear, dust, etc.
