i had one crack and leak on me at the fuel pump. was out with the Mrs for a nice Sunday ride yesterday. "honey, why does it smell like gas?" sure enough, puddle on the transmission.
easy fix. Found at chain Autoparts store. the lines are 10" and 8" respectively. I bought two kits of 18" so I had wiggle room. right back on the road!

I installed the brass quick disconnects and a small auto type inline fuel filter
after going thru the battle to access the in tank filter. Now I can change filters
in 2 minutes with a flat blade screwdriver without having to disassemble anything.
I've got a write-up on it with photos if you'd like to see it. No big loop of fuel line
hanging down, pretty much out of sight yet very easy access.

Macx, please post this, I'd like to see it!
Peels, I had the same problem with my external fuel lines a year after buying my 3-year-old bike (used). Others have experienced this too over the years. Good thing to check on any older machine.
TThe quick disconnects definitely should be upgraded, and the fuel lines are an easy repair/upgrade. Also a good time to upgrade the clamps on the fuel lines.
