How to remove remnants of wheel weight

I had a new rear tire put on the bike after a flat coming home from a trip. Washing it today I noticed that they left a lot of the previous weight adhesive on the wheel.

Any suggestions on how best to clean it up?

Goof off. They even make an automotive one. 3M also makes a Automotive adhesive remover.

Just did this the other night. Carb cleaner. The solvent kind. Let it soak on the adhesive, then use a towel with some carb cleaner on it to scrub off the remains of the adhesive. Don't soak the tire.

I have satisfactory results with WD-40, let it soak a bit, then go at it with a paper towel and your finger.

Be carefull not to let the cleaner get under the new wheel weight. I might cause the new weight to come off. I made a small scraper out of a piece of Plexiglas that I use to remove most of the foam before I clean off the adhesive. If you do that you will need to put on less cleaner.

+1, always use WD40 to remove the residue.

I used gasoline and shop towel.Gasolin evapotates,no residu after.It is dry.Please don't smoke at the time.
