Anybody using Shell Rotella T 15W40 oil in their boxer?? I use that stuff in everything from my tractor, and motor home, to my GL1500 Wing, and it seems to work well. It seems to hold up pretty well, maintaining a good feel, and at $12/gal, it's pretty inexpensive. I'm on a 4K mile change cycle on the Wing, and plan on doing the same with my Beemer. Comments??

Can't tell where on planet earth you call home .
I live in a suburb of hell, the Phoenix, Aridzona area .
I've switched to Mobil 1 V Twin oil .
If you are in a temperate climate area, the Rotella should work fine, if heard other owners of different makes use the same oil for years without any oil related issues .
I was using BMW branded oil manufactured by Spectro, but that oil is close enough in cost to Mobil 1when I get it on sale at one of the chain type auto parts stores, so I made the switch at the last oil change .
The starter has an easier job in the ' winter ' conditions we have here, over the BMW oil, I use the same weight oil all year long .

I'm in Western Kentucky, with moderate temps. Thanks for your thoughts. By the way, I see that there are quite a few Mobile 1 products. Which one do you use? ..........TomAZBMWRIDER wrote:Can't tell where on planet earth you call home .

I use T6 (Rotella) in the winter. Then change to Valvoline VR1 for summer. This part of New Mexico we get some wild tempature swings and the Boxer seems to like the Rotella in the winter.

Its good oil, changed regularly, should be no problems. Lots of folks I've encountered use it and swear by it.
Re: Rotella T
Thanks guys,
The Rotella T 15W40 is in, as well as a new filter, and it is running very nice.
