OEM system side cases for my naked bike.

Found a set at a good price and picked them up today. They are mechanically sound but aesthetics are not the best, scuffs and scrapes. Any tips on how to give them a clean look?

There was somebody that put Line X on their cases and it looked pretty cool.

I have heard of folks using a steel wool pad soaked in Armor All or Back to Black (my favorite).

I got tired of things falling out of the side cases when I opened them,
so true to my nature of being a tinkerer and of the "it ain't right till it's right"
outlook, here's what I did

Now don't just automatically ROFL! This works like a charm.
And they're quickly and easily removable if needed for large items.

I have modified my attachment method - instead of the white plastic
thingy's, I now use small L brackets attached with very short, small
(#6?) sheet metal screws - my cases have a double wall so the screws
do not penetrate thru to the outside. I cut slots in the plastic for the
small brackets to stick thru to the inside, then just use a smallish spring
clip thru a hole in the end of the bracket. One on ea side near the top,
and 2 more near the outer edges of the bottom.

What they are made of is the ends of an oval laundry basket cut to fit -
admittedly took awhile to get them to fit right, but now when I close the
lid the inserts fit pretty snug inside the lid so no real wasted space.
And they're quite flexible so pretty much conform to any odd shapes / contours
of whatever I want to carry.

On one side, I ended up trimming the middle down a little at a time until
I can easily put in and take out a pretty full typical plastic grocery sack full of
stuff but it still holds things in quite well.

I took these pics just after doing the "first cut" - if anyone wants more detailed

On the other side, I didn't trim it down as far but used short springs to hold
the top in place, allowing me to pull the top out to get larger items in the case.

I found the laundry basket with the preferred color (black) and the rounded ends
to fit the inside contour of the case covers at Target a couple years ago.
