R1200R tall shield bracket instructions

Post by 911f »

Does anyone have BMW instructions for mounting the BMW tall shield bracket? Just bought a used r1200R with one on it, and I'm trying to remove it and put the standard bracket back on but seems like there are way too many fasteners to make sense of.

thanks for any help

Bill,
It would help to know what year your bike is. On 2007-2010 you can remove the two screws that you see on the triple clamp, and the whole shield and bracket assembly comes right off. For 2011 and newer, you have to temporarily remove the headlight to get access to the screws under the cover.

Thanks Don. Its a 2010. And it was very easy, thank you. Just wasn't sure as the original owner also had the original short screen and mount and what seemed like a bunch of hardware left over. On the tall bracket there was also a block under the front center 'hinge' point that looked aftermarket, I'm guessing to allow the screen to be tilted back more. but maybe its part of the taller bracket or the cal-sci screen he had on it. Going to take some trial and error to find the right screen. The tall one I wasn't crazy about, the short one is actually OK, but the remaining wind hits right at helmet level. Will take some time, need some miles to figure out what feels right.

It sound like there is a tilt block on there. Check this old thread for the story.
