At 6000 mls removed exhaust flap, tievraped to the frame of bike(temporarly).Basically the flap is working, but it is not in exhaust system ECU feels it is there, but doesent know it isent in the system.Test drove it for 2-3 hours on hilly roads.Could not feel ANY difference in power and torque of the bike.Runs just great!Exhaust note is littlebit stronger, and deeper, but no significent difference at all.My personal opinion is the exhaust flap is NOT necesary on this bike at all.Very basically the bike is the same as pre 2011 modells(SOHC/DOHC)no too much difference in torque and power, really can not see why is that flap on 2011 onvard modells. It does not make differences.
Any opinion from you guys?

The flap on 2011+ bikes is supposed to be "Electronically controlled exhaust flap for a superior powerful sound". Is there any real value to this, does it do anything to engine performance?
Here is the Wonderlich part to remove it...

I completely removed the exhaust valve from my '11 a few months ago, and agree with your assessment. The deeper exhaust note at low RPM with the motor is under load is music to my ears!
My thoughts are that the only reason for the bloody valve is to meet noise emissions regs. Removal will piss off our government regulators/bureaucrats, your name will be added to the big data base in Utah, and you may be labeled as the threat to our nation!

I put a pece of pipe 2.5"OD 2.5"lenght (with some fileing, sandpaper use, lubrycant:Kupferpaste made by WEICON Gmbh&Co.KG in Germany it withstandes 1,100 Celsius-iron melts at1,540 cels-now you can imegin the ability of this antisize/lubricant.Available at Volvo trucks dealerships.Excellent as a splin lube as vell.)I use this pipe temporarly ($5.) if it works in future by my expectations I will order a piece from Wumderlich(stainless steel).Going to leave electric motor in its place but removing butterfly valve comletly with cables.Emissions????? Harley guys,do they care???? So, why should I? By the way, I still have the cat,MOST of Harleys dont.Think abouth it!

By my personal experience, removing it doesn't do anithing to engine performance.Probably engine breating easer. That's it.
No change(significant change)in fuel economy.

I now have a parabellum scout fairing. Stock exhaust is loud enough with the flap in. much louder than with the other windshield.
I think the flap closes a little while cruising and opens when opening throttle. This is fine with me.
I prefer quiet bikes, so it works for me.
I have run the bike with no muffler. It sounds awesome in the garage. I could not ride it more than a little while and it would be WAY too loud for me.
For me quiet is good. If I go tearing through town like a hooligan, I do not want to draw attention to my self.
I am the old guy on a BMW passing through your town quietly with a visor on my helmet. smiling all the way.

Removed mine, along with the servo box. Found a cap that fit into and over the plug that was into the box. Bike runs and sounds great.

You are right David R!
The reason I remooved it is simple:I don't want anythig on my bike (unnescery, coasing problems later on).The bike is NOT much louder than before, just singing a littlebit deeper sound.A man like sound. It doesn't making any problem. Now I remooved the electrical box as well.No issues.Just perfect.
Thanks for feedbacks!
