Hey all: I believe the cross reference number to be 6360 for a FRAM OIL FILTER for a 2004 R1150r
Does anyone know if the filter wrench purchased from Beemer boneyard that fits the bottom of the Bosch filter fits the Fram.
I'm just thinking I go right by the auto parts store & could order a "FRAM FILTER" if my wrench will fit. I already have enough oil left for a change. Anyone have this info or reason NOT to use a FRAM Filter.
Thank you.. Steve in Michigan

Fram filters don't have a very good reputation anymore. I quit using them years ago for anything. I'm using Bosch filters buying them in the six pack deal for our 1150's.

K&N makes a decent filter.

Here's the specs for the Beemer Boneyard oil filter. Just got it in the mail last week.

I don't have the reference handy but I remember years ago a forum member did a pretty exhaustive examination of the Fram oil filter. The Fram filter failed pretty miserably at the time. I decided then to steer clear of their filters at least for my R. I have used the AC Delco PF-52 oil filter since 2003. It's about $4 at my local auto parts stores. Works well for me.

Hello,
I am the tech manager for FRAM filters. We regularly road race with our oil filters to prove the robustness of the design. the Vance and Hines XR1200R road racing teams use our filters, so does Team419, a group of very accomplished WERA racers. The correct part number is 6063
BTW- Some of the "prefferred" filters mentioned in this thread also come out of our factories. If you want to learn about filtration, here is a video we made about engineering and testing-
