Newbies (me) sheesh! OK, finally got the picture to load...I think....anyway, just want to say hi to all. Have been lurking here for quite a while, gathering great amounts of useful information which helped me to finally find the perfect bike for me (and my budget). 2007, 20.000 miles and kept in immaculate condition by the previous owner who is an employee of BMW in Munich. Needless to say, I am a very happy camper!
Many thanks to all who keep this site alive, your efforts are greatly appreciated!!

Took a little 9 day stroll out to, and around, Colorado from Indiana for a little solo camping trip.

Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. I'm not afraid to admit that after 5 days of riding around some of the most beautiful countryside imaginable the ride up Trail Ridge brought a tear to my eye. It was that stunningly awesome.



This is at the geographic center of the 48 contiguous states, a few miles north and east of Smith Center, KS



Beuhla ran flawlessly the whole trip with one minor exception: her fuel strip went out 50 miles from the start. I got to visit the nice folks at Gateway BMW in St. Louis for a replacement. They got me in and out in less than 2 hours.

I also got to meet the nice folks at Engle BMW in Kansas City MO on the return trip. New PR3 mounted/balanced and out the door in one hour, nice

Seems as though riding in a straight line all the way across Kansas and eastern Colorado will flat spot your back tire I probably should have replaced it in Denver but I decided to nurse the old Bridgestone BT023 to KC to keep from puttin 1,200 straight line miles on a brand new tire, 600 is plenty. I did find US24 through the northen end of MO (KC to Hannibel) to be a pretty fun road though.

Had a lovely day trip yesterday. 450km of mostly curvy roads, some 50 of which were extremely curvy.



This is at a smoke stop just south of Halden, Norway, just north of the Swedish-Norwegian border.

Left Jersey Shore June 26 -- back home July 24. 8,200+ miles. Went to MotoGuzzi National rally in Virginia (off BRP) then rode Rt66 and the PCH LaJolla to San Francisco, then BMW Top of the Rockies Rally in Colorado. then on to the BMWMOA National in Missouri. Longest day 1,100+ miles.

Here's a picture on Mt. Evans, highest paved road in the US 14,200+ feet, electronic fuel injection is a wonderful thing.. The local wild life were unimpressed but I got to scratch an item off my bucket list, along with finishing off Rt50.

I have nothing new to share since I have been working a long ways away from my R, so I'll just sit back and enjoy all the new photos, dreaming of getting back on my R.

Nice bike, welcome to the forum! That is actually the color I was trying to get my 12R in, I love that color, but had to settle for the Classic pinstripes.
I like the decal on your helmet too...

Thanks! The Lost Rider sticker is on the bike. By the way, the other sticker on the back of my helmet which you can't read in the picture, is another great one: "Save your ass, wear a helmet!"

Just returned from a camping trip to Big Bend National Park. The bike ran flawlessly, the temperatures in the Chisos Mountains were mild, and the hiking was phenomenal! Likely my last trip until Christmas vacation.


Packed for summer camping and desert survival.

I hardly ever manage to remember to take a photo of my bike when I'm on tour so here's a rare pic of the beastie on her first tour (the 12 not Mrs S) in full rig (SW Motech City Quicklok tank bag, System cases and Givi Maxia 52 topbox)


The topbox always starts out as an empty, light receptacle for our helmets and gloves but at this juncture had 6 bottles of Rothaus beer, One bottle of Bubbly stuff, an Austrian Cow bell .................... etc. To the credit of the bike, handling was not affected one iota!


Lorraine's first solo riding tour in some 7 years was on the very capable (if a bit bouncy due to awful factory suspension) F650GS Twin


Photo's were snapped in the Biker-centric town of Cochem in the Mosel Valley, Germany.
The road from here to Aachen via the Nurburgring (B256, 7, is one I recommend to anybody riding in that area. Fast, sweepy and an absolute hoot on any bike.

Our last tours were two-up on my FJR1300. The 12R was heaps more fun.

Wisconsin has a program that identifies and maintains country roads that are particularly beautiful (http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/sce ... croads.htm). The Rustic Roads program now has 111 roads. Since motorcyclists are the largest group attracted to these roads, the state made a reward program: ride 10, get a patch - ride 25, get a certificate. There's also a sticker available from an inmate over on Advrider for people who ride 100 of them. I'm planning to ride all 111 before the riding season is over this year. It's a great way to see my state, and fall is a great time of year to do it. I rode 3 of them in northeastern Wisconsin on Saturday before heading out fishing. It's a lot of fun, tracking them down and riding them. I would encourage anyone in Wisconsin to take the time to ride these roads when they see the signs.

I am heading down to SF this Friday from Vancouver Canada and am going to do a blast on 36.

Also SFHooligan-I am going to park my bike at this place: http://www.motohaus-sf.com/home Any comments or have you heard anything about them? Hotel parking is like $25/night and this place is $60 for the week.

Hey Dan,

The sign is about here. You can see it on the street view - it's on the right as you head out of Red Bluff.

I don't know much about MotoHaus specifically - but have heard good things. Worth checking out. Also, depending on where you're staying you might be able to get a deal on parking - hotels will often let you stow your bike for free if you're not taking up a spot.
