Tank bag mount ?

Post by BigEasy »

Ok, I searched first but "tank bag mount" is generic enough that I got 10 pages of results and still couldn't find the answer to my query.

My wife purchased a Wolfman tank bag for me and I'm just now getting around to fitting it up. The rear attachment point is a single buckle that needs to be anchored beneath the seat. At the base of the tank there's a nice little tapped fitting that would be ideal to use.

I know sometime in the past the bolt size/thread pitch for that fitting has been talked about here. Is anyone's memory/Googlefu better than mine?

Same way I have my RKA rear strap attached..

Offhand I dunno the size, but I have a bunch'a them.. (always buy spare screws, that way you'll never lose one..)

You could take the battery strap screw out and wander down to HomeDespot or Lowes (or someplace similar if you're not in the US) and match up the threads. The big-box stores have a decent supply of almost-good* stainless metric hardware.

* = probably made in China, I wouldn't use it for critical stuff, but for holding a tankbag strap down it should work just fine. Put a washer under the head.

Thanks for the idea Don. I didn't realize my profile didn't have my location, I'm s 45 min ride south of Indianapolis, IN FWIW. I edited it let's see if it shows up.

edit: doesn't look like it updated, I probably should renew my membership #-o
