Have just tried the Buhel D01 bluetooth headset. This connects to the helmet via a magnetic self adhesive pad and transmits sound by vibration through the helmet shell. There are no speakers!
May seem implausible but it works well allbeit not hifi quality and you may find music too distorted(a bit like a cheap small radio turned up loud). However, for satnav directions it is okay and connected easily to my iphone (but did not work with Tomtom Rider 2). Have not tried it for mobile phone since have no use for this myself. Plenty loud enough though sound tends to be on one side only. Available in UK from Rainbow BMW amongst others at about £100 and in States from Amazon.
One other advantage is that microphone is a plug in device so if you do not need phone you can leave it off.

Re: Bluetooth headset by Buhel
Looks like these are sold under the RAIDER label in the States. Usually less than $60 at Amazon and other vendors. Reports are that the audio is not great but OK for GPS directions. If someone reports that it will work with a Garmin Zumo I could be interested as that's all I would use it for..
