NZPOM coming to Washington

Post by NZPOM »

I've got 3-4 days to kill in DC mid-July (better half at conference, I'm just the bag carrier!). Wondered if there is anything bike-related that I should put on my tourist itinerary, e.g. shows, racing (?) museums, even dealers with large collections of shiny bikes to drool over =P~ ! Actual dates are 14th to 18th and staying pretty central (Woodley Park area) but no wheels :( for this trip.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks All.

There are two BMW dealerships in the DC area. Bob's BMW is in Laurel Maryland and they have a small collection of early bikes. Mortons is the second dealership - located in Frederickburg, VA. I had done some research for friends coming in from the Netherlands and there are outfitters who rent R-bikes in the DC area, so you may want to do a google search and look into getting some wheels while you're visiting (although traffic in the DC metro region is beastly). Unfortunately, neither dealerships are close to public transport.
When you're done polishing the Harley get in here and start on the silverware...

Thanks for the info WVWOOF. Why don't they locate hotels and bike shops close together???? Like pubs and kebab shops in the UK.
