Hello, all. New to the site. Just bought a very nice R1100R...my first BMW.
Will be surfing here quite a bit regarding maintenance tips, oil selection (I like Rotella T6, but won't use it unless it's OK to do so...it's in my other bike), maybe lowering footpegs a bit or raising the seat a bit, or both-but won't do anything like that until I ride it awhile.
That's all for later. For now, just wanted to hop on, say thanks for the very informative website and be happy about my first BMW...

I wish you much joy of your new bike.
Have you found the seat height adjustment yet?

Re: New BMW-R1100R owner
No...is there a trick? Blocks under the seat or something like that?
Re: New BMW-R1100R owner
OK, seat adjustment....
First, take off the rider's seat.... there should be an allen key clipped to the under side of it, so you don't have to open the full tool kit.
Look carefully at the forward seat mount points (big round rubber things) they are held in place by a couple of allen headed bolts.
There are three positions, full forward is lowest, mid is mid, fully back is highest.
To move the mount points, you undo the bolts, reposition the forward seat mounts and redo the bolts.
Done deal!
It was a great idea, but got discontinued (AFAIK) with later models.
