Battery Stuff (again)
Some of the guys on the Guzzi list are really up on these MotoBatt batteries. I never heard of them before .
Here's the company web site: http://motobatt.com/
And here is a post that contains a very professional looking series of tests on motorcycle batteries including the Odyssey 535 which seems to be the battery of choice here. It's a long read but interesting:

Wow, that is some test.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects handlebars to the saddle.

Harry... I read and scanned the article you linked in your posting and impressed by the Guzzi Battery especially the test where the batteries powered a 55 watt light til all but 2 were dead. Looks like the Odyssey has a competitor. There is a Guzzi dealer close by and I called about the cost of their battery. It was almost 3x the cost of the article's posted cost but still competitive with the Odyssey. That Texas Test was extensive.mogu83 wrote:Some of the guys on the Guzzi list are really up on these MotoBatt batteries. I never heard of them before .

I saw the $65.00 cost and results of the test and thought ...I'm gonna buy one....but at $170.00 maybe not.
I had a Westco Battery with a 5 year warranty in my car that lasted 7 years. It's hard to test that aspect but the Guzzi tested well.
Thanks for the post.

Re: Battery Stuff (again)
You went to a dealer for a price on a battery -- shame on you.
To get a deal you have to order from the net and install it yourself. It's not a big deal.
Here's a link to the supplier for a battery for the R1200R: http://www.bikebatts.com/product_info.p ... cts_id=534
Only $72, looks like that dealer had a little mark up.
BTW: I don't have anything to do with MotoBatt or the people selling them, but if I knew about this before I bought an Odyssey I most likely would have gone for a MotoBatt.

Do they have a drop in for the R1200R?

Someone has to step up to the plate and order one that the company says will fit our bikes and report on this list. I have a new Odyssey (which really didn't drop in) so it won't be me.
I took my turn, and was the first one to plunk down almost $900 for a Parabellum Scout, sight unseen. I posted some pictures and a short account of the installation process and I think that might have influenced a few others. That's one of the great things about this forum - sharing information. (and sometimes a little stupid BS, naturally I speak for myself).

Re: Battery Stuff (again)
This post got me to hoping (even though I just replaced the one in my '04 with a PC680). I was going to re-post this thread on the 1150 side of the board, but after reading fairly carefully there doesn't seem to be a MotoBatt that will fit the 1150 series of bikes. Anything that comes close to the amperage rating is just to deep to fit. (at least bikes with ABS)
