Mine is stuck on just enough to give me 1200 RPM.
I like that idle level but want the lever back down where it belongs.
At 1200 RPM roll off is smoother. I don't spend much time idling anyway.

Your ball bearing has come out and the spring is stuck against the little metal stop. Either that or the ball bearing is stuck in the hole. Either of these problems can be easily fixed. BTW, I've got your ball bearing and spring ready to send. You will have to disconnect the heated grip wires and slide the grip part way off but it isn't that hard. You can fix the choke with it still on the bike, no problem.

The choke lever is hanging there ready for repair!
I needed new heated grips anyway so it's all just hanging by the wires.
Thanks very much for the tech advice & the parts. I must have stared at that thing for 20 minutes and I still can't tell where it's hanging up.
I released the cable tension and for sure it's in the lever assembly. Is there an exploded view somewhere to look at?
I played with it today and got good results. The metal strip that the ball bearing rides on had some corrosion so I used scotchbright on it. Put it back in, no joy. Then I noticed that the strip is notched where the lever would lock in the fast idle position. I filed that portion to make a ramp for the ball bearing to ride over and voila! I can now return the lever to the home position! Success
Yup. So you still had the ball bearing... Excellent!
