The bike passed the initial test, which is - does it make me grin when I see it?… check.
The R1200R sure is a “raw” motorcycle. Meaning that it is all there for you to see… all 200 tie wraps, lattice framework, component hangers, cylinders hanging out, etc. I really like the no nonsense look of the bike, which I never gave much thought in the past.The overview of the bike given at the dealership was informative. Nothing like having the bike in front of you to see the indicators, adjustments, and hands-on functions. Still not sure what the designers were thinking when they placed turn indicators on each side, but no worries.
Second test, the ride home – still grinning?... check.
I won’t make any outrageous claims about how well the bike handles, because it was just an hour ride home, 80% on the highway, but suffice to say I was really impressed. The center of mass and riding geometry being so much different than the CBR, it just seemed a more stable ride. I was taking 15 knot cross winds due to the front that was moving into North Texas and was stable as can be, fully dressed (sides and top case). On that same point, I never missed the windscreen, never felt buffeted, just let the helmet aerodynamics do its thing and all was well.A read through the owner’s manual didn’t reveal too much new info, but good to let some things sink in. One thing I did find in the manual I’ll post on another thread regarding BWM’s warning not to use silicone on the bike’s rubber.

Look forward to productive conversations with the forum members as things happen (Remus Hexacone should be delivered in a week or so, along with some other farkles that I felt compelled to buy as the spending momentum increased… then stopped dead after the check was written to the dealership… yikes
