Touratech Hard Part steering stop

Has anyone installed this part before. It makes sense, and in a hard fall (no, I do not plan on having one---I plan to avoid) it would protect the steering-stop. I know this is designed for the R12RT, but isn't that the larger more touring oriented version of our bike. Parts should be somewhat interchangeable, no?

it probably does fit ,i have one on a gs and when i had a quick look at the r1200r the tele lever looks the same . maybe there is a little differance in length . dealers would know for sure.

Yea, I called Touratech, and they did not know if it fit (nor did they seem interested in finding out). Frustrating. Problem is, there are subtle differences in tele-lever lengths. Huh?

should not make any differance in length as they fit at front .clamps over , as long as the triangle profile is the same it should fit .when i get a chance i will measure the both ,gs and r1200r.
sadly cannot do at moment r1200r is tied down in a van ready to go back to dealers .

pistonbroke, this doesn't mean you're returning your R1200R does it ??

just down a few visual looks at the tele levers with bikes together r1200r ,gs1200r. they are basically the same ,just one issue that throws a spanner in the works ,the r1200r has a steering damper ,right in the place where the bracket is fixed , the lumpy bit on the damper is where the bolts attach the bracket (THEY WOULD BE ). however i think it would fit with a bit of engineering skills . it still would be close though .

Thanks Piston and Boxermoose. Great suggestions. Yea, that steering damper is exactly the problem I saw as well. I wonder if the GS version that Touratech makes would work.

I think I just may have to go to the dealer and see if they have one there and "place" it in its spot to see if anything interferes with its function---before I spend the cash on it. I want to put one on my R12S too, but it has a steering damper in the same spot. I like Boxermoose's suggestion, but I'm not fond of messing with the bolts that connect the fork bridge.

I've installed the Wunderlich Steering stops after changing to narrower flatter bars (F800ST) and they work very well. In fact, I've already put them through the low-speed drop test (unintentionally) and the the closely-mounted turnsignal flipper did NOT dent the tank!!

the steering part from the gs by touratech does not fit , took mine off today and tried it ,does clear the steering damper but the bolts are about 2 mm out , even with bearing down it still does not quite match up ...
any way i have the gs ones up for grabs as i have the bike up for sale .
