Is there some secret technique to adjusting the mirror arms?

It's funny that I was without my R1200R for almost a year and how some of the quirky things come back to me as I experience them. One was the lack of a helmet lock that I totally forgot the bike did not have.

The other, at least is adjusting the mirror arms...they always seem to come loose. Is there a trick to doing what the manual says below which I tried to follow to a T but every time I got the arm where I wanted it and tightened the top bolt , the arm would move. Or it would seem tight but a few miles later the arm would be loose.

Any insight or tips appreciated.

I have the same problem. I just pulled up the boot and really snugged them down today. The bottom nut threads into the handlebar, in the normal way, but comes loose. I really snugged it this time. The top nut is reverse threaded, but seems to stay put for me.

Next time, I am putting Loctite on the bottom threads.

The secret is to go to F800GS mirrors, which have a completely different clamp mechanism, and which will not drift or loosen up on you. I personally think the GS mirrors both look better and work better than the stock "Mickey Mouse" mirrors, but the superior clamp alone is a good enough reason to change, in my always humble opinion.
