Touring Panniers & gearlever

This 03 r1150r was equipped with two touring panniers. The right hand side one is now unlockable as the red tab has broken off. This was the only thing wrong with the bike when I collected it last wednesday.
I have ordered a new assembly but cannot see how to get the old assembly off in order to complete the replacement. The plastic cover over all the mechanism is rivetted on rather than screwed. Any ideas?
Second problem, I want to raise the gear lever a few degrees. I can undo the lock-nut but cannot see how to shorten the screwed shaft. May be it's my age!!

open the bag. Remove the lock core. On the hooks that secure the lids (accuated by the handle), push out the pins and remove the spacer. From inside the bag, drill out the seven rivets.pull the multifunction box up and out. Pull the two plastic covers off and place on new piece, set new piece on inner bag, blind rivet and enjoy. Keep old multifunction box.


Advrider has great directions. Retain rubber washer from old rivets to re use if needed.

I would like this answered as well. I've made due but it seems as though the mechanism is designed to be adjustable but I can't seem to get anything to move.

The adjust mechanism requires that you take the little wire retainer off, before you can rotate the threaded link to shorten or lengthen the adjuster. It's not obvious how to get it off, and I can't remember a link to the procedure, but staring at it for a few minutes will probably reveal the trick. Remove the retainer, turn the adjuster until the pedal's in the right position, replace the retainer.
