I undid the wire ties up front under the horn. I did not see a need to retie them loosely or at all.
What do you think?

I never retied mine either. I didn't see any real need to, either. They've been that way for 6 years or so (with no problems).
But, you should do whatever you think is best (I don't want any blame if something goes wrong...

Same here, I untied mine when installing my windscreen and I think the super tight binding made the wire sheath wear faster, let em hang free!

Thanks for responding you two. It is comforting to have others share an opinion.
Because antifreeze evaporates more quickly in hot weather, I've tried storing some extra in the catalytic converter on long trips. Seems to work well.
