Square Route next weekend - Thurmont MD

Post by deilenberger »

By BMWBMW (Baltimore/Washington DC club)..

What R1200R owners besides me and Harry C are going? We might consider meeting in the pavilion Friday night and having a few beers..

Right down the road from Thurmont is Taneytown. My little sister used to be the head chef at the Antrim Inn there.

Just trivia for your ride.... :)

Usually on Friday night at Square Route (Root) neither Don nor I should be making any trips longer than from the picnic table in the pavilion to the beer tap.

Guys, I'll be up at the pavilion Saturday morning. Where are you taking me to lunch? :D

Thurmont is about 10 mins away from me. I might stop by if I could just figure out where the thing is being held.

Push for the Shamrock which is on 15 just north of Thurmont or the Carriage House in Emmitsburg.

From Taneytown go South on MD Rt194 to the gas station on your right in Keymar (5.5 miles) make a RIGHT on MD RT77. On 77 go 17 miles (under Rt15) and look for the BMW roundel on your left (Brown Road) Bear right on Brown, go 500 feet and look for roundel sending you to the gravel road on left. Go down road to rally.

I'm going but don't know what I'm riding - right now I'm leaning toward the Valkyrie.

Gents, check your PMs. Have an idea about a 100-mile hamburger trip to WV for Saturday lunch.

Actually I have a few Guzzi Rallys lined up - so naturally I'll be parking my Black Beemer in the middle of those red Eye-talian machines. Including the Guzzi nationals in Iowa. So I'll roll out the heavy machinery to put some miles on it..

Bill - Anyplace weird for lunch sound good to me, although the Valkyrie wouldn't be my first or second chose for a ride in W. Virginia.

The Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown WV is excellent.

We ended up at a small place (have pics somewhere..) in Berkley Springs WV for lunch. Harry decided not to push the Valkarie around the corners getting there, but my riding companion to the rally joined us on his R12RT.. Great ride, good lunch, good convo!

Always wanted to check out Harpers Ferry but couldn't see paying $8, leaving my bike in a parking lot and taking the tour bus. Found out you could ride into town the back way and where to park for free. Interesting place to check out if your in the area and always a great rally.

I'm a fan of Temptations Cafe there.
