As of two days ago I'm now back on the list of Corbin riders. I just rode in and got mine made and love it (as I've loved the Corbins on my other bikes). One thing to point out, I happen to have the only Corbin seat in existence that will fit the 2011 model R1200R. If you mail order one it won't work, you have to have them custom make the entire seat for it to fit. There are enough changes in the luggage rack/ grab rail handles between 2010 and 2011 that the earlier seat won't work.

Stock seat with an Alaska butt-pad. Not exactly a 'magic carpet' but I can get an extra 100 miles or so between rest stops.

We're in Centralia WA, on our way south from Rich's, where Rad (R1100S) and I went for new seats. Here's the R12R outside the motel:

Way way better than stock.

Doesn't seem to be any way to change my vote from "stock" (when I first responded) to "Rich's."

Did you ride in to Rick Mayer or order it "untested"...?

I ordered it untested. I'd never even seen one in person. I figured it couldn't be any worse than the stock seat.

BMW Comfort seat (800mm seat height): Compared to the stock saet, this seat is just perfect (for me). Also during long trips (whole days/weeks), there is nothing to complain about.

Mine came with the standard height stock seat, and unfortunatley for me it was a real butt buster. After one season of riding I ordered a Sargent seat. It solved the problem of the seat being uncomfortable, but the cover on it causes me to keep sliding forward. Recently went to Demo Days and took out a R1200R with standard height comfort seat and it was much better - no problem with sliding forward. Now I'm going to have to go to the expense of replacing the seat again, just have not decided what to go with.

I'm using a sheep skin over the stock seat right now!!! I plan on having a local guy put a gel insert with 1/4" of foam over it for an air gap between me and the gel. If that does not work I'm going for a Sargent or Corbin!!!! #-o

Just two data points...struck me as odd...

The standard height* ("low") comfort seat measures exactly 800mm off the ground with the bike not loaded. Measured to a point about 8" (horizontal distance) from the front edge.

The regular "high" seat measures 860mm at the same point, not the 835mm stated in the parts fiche.

Even though the regular high seat compresses a little, it still sits 50mm higher than the comfort seat. It's a huge difference. I want something in between the two...

*There appear to be two "comfort seat" heights (low/800 and high/830) and three regular seat heights (low/770, normal/800 and high/835). Some parts fiches also show an "extra low".

Give him a call, the guys on the Z1000 forum swear by him. However, when I called him a couple of years ago he would not work on R1200R seats due to fracturing of the seat pan when stapling the cover back on. That may have changed.

Stock, with a bead rider.

Cooler in the summer, let's rain run down under you. Not too comfy after 8 hours or so.

Really would like a heated seat.. I'm running naked. Gets cold!

I was surprised at how long it took my Comfort Seat to break in. Much longer than the stock one.

I replaced the stock bench with a high comfort and would not go back. It's just a hair taller so easier on the knees. Feels more like a cruiser seat to me. I can see how I would hate it on the track or off road, just because it's wider.

I'm selling the old standard stock seat for $250, just PM me. Perfect shape.
