As a WIS [Watch Idiot Savant] and collector, the first quartz looks promising, however, am not fond of a quartz movement in general. Here are a couple of suggestions as follows:nylife wrote:So i have the i want another watch bug bite me again

Some of these are VERY nice pieces, however, sub-$1500 as follows: http://www.watchbuys.com/store/pc/shows ... chValues=3
Oris is a good one near your price range at sub $500 - http://www.watchseller.com/ormodclas.html
Good website - http://www.watchseller.com/index.html
Would also be happy to help you acquire a used piece [you can get more bang for your $$] if this is something you would like to pursue.

I have been collecting watches for a long time. One thing I have noticed. Young people don't wear them. They have that iPhone at the ready. No need for a watch. My everyday watch is an old Seiko self winding divers watch. One tough watch.

i have an ORIS Williams F1 watch now and Orient Dive Watch
wanted something else, my Oris for being somewhat of a nice watch not 1000's of dollars but it is above average cost and quality i have not been to happy with it over all.
both of my watches now are automatic and i do have a watch winder, which is one of the reasons i wanted quarts or something thats both automatic, but have reserve battery

The SKX175 is my everyday watch. the red anodize on the bezel will fade over the years. It has been down many whitewater rivers, bounced off many rocks and keeps on ticking. The only problem with an auto-winder, you have to wear it, or it will stop running.

The Seiko Kinetic fills that bill. It auto winds, but It stores electrical energy instead of mechanical energy. So it uses a quartz movement. I have been dying to buy one. Now that you have placed the idea in my mind, I think I will go shopping. I don't like my Citizen Eco-drive (light powered) watches so much. They work fine, but are not as comfortable to wear.both of my watches now are automatic and i do have a watch winder, which is one of the reasons i wanted quarts or something thats both automatic, but have reserve battery

One thing I've noticed as I have, uh, matured is that I really need a white face with dark hands to see the watch without reading glasses on. My wife bought me a watch one time that had a black face with silver hands and lots of little dials for various things, and I really could not tell you the time with that watch.

I go 100% for function, and always with the Casio brand. I have had one of THESE for over 15 years. It is quite scratched/faded/worn and one of the (hollow) buttons has cracked open. It's time to replace it soon, likely with the updated version (LED backlite) of the same thing. The black plastic band gets replaced with a quicker to latch/unlatch metal link band.
I really use the data bank storage for phone numbers and part numbers for BMW stuff like TDC pins, sparkplugs and air & oil filters. I searched for owner reports on Casio atomic watches and they were not good. Reliability and longevity were both short.

I have a Casio, too. They are cheap ($24) but they do last a long time. It has the white face/dark hands that I need to see it, too.
