I have a 1995 R1100R I have aquired and semi-restored, including replacing the wiring harness with a (supposed) good one. The old harness was shot. As far as I know, all other components were checked by a dealer and are OK and most were not replaced.
However, when I attempted a first start, she turns over but does not start and I'm seeing no spark at all on either side when I ground a plug on the exhaust. Looks like I have an ignition issue as everything else electrical seems to work work fine (lights, horn, turn signals, fuel pump, starter, etc.). The coil looks OK as did the Hall Sensor, although it did have some corrosion and the wiring could be in better shape.
Any ideas on my next steps? What may have I overlooked? Can I get the Coil and Hall Sensor tested at a dealer? Other suggestions? I was all set to ride and now am back at the drawing board!
Thanks

Re: Engine Won't Start; No Spark
On closer inspection several wires on the Hall Sensor pigtail near the plug have broken insulation. In addition, the sensors and plate have some corrosion. The bike has 77K miles and I've read that the Hall Sensor or its wiring can be an issue at this age. Is this my problem?
Thanks!
Thanks!
