Handlebars too Wide.

Post by BabsMazz »

I'm a new owner of a lime green 2004 R1150R Rockster. Rode it 200+ miles back home after purchase in the next State. LOVE IT! One drawback - the handlebars (which already have the aftermarket risers) are about 2-4" too wide for me. The 32.25" width is about 4" too much, especially when trying to reach the turn signal cancel button. Has anyone had any success in cutting a couple of inches off each side? Afraid of the wiring inside for the heated grips.

Absolutely LOVE the bike - just need a few more modifications to fit my frame.

I had my local dealer put the standard "R" bike handlebars on mine when I bought it, they are not as wide, and you sit a bit more upright.

Great Idea! I've sent Herman156 a message to see if he wants to trade.

If you are swapping bars with somebody and and both sets of bars have heated grips, why don't you both leave the grips on (if they are working) and save each other a lot of hassle? .........

i have a old pair of handlebars ( heated grips) from 2004 rockster that could be modified. these handlebars have a small bend but hey it beats paying 200.00 for new ones to modify... make an offer if you like or they go on the wall in the shed...

I put Pro Taper fattie adapters and Pro Taper Fattie Contour bars on mine. You have to drill two holes in the bars for heated grip wires and you have to use the couple of inches off the end of your OEM bars to access heated grip wires. You pin the end of the bars in. They are not structural, they just access wires and your bar ends bolt in. You can cut your new bars to a width to suit you.
