New Owner and Introduction

Post by pietervn »

Hi,

My name is Peter the newest owner of a 1150R. =D>

I took delivery of a Dark Yellow Ferro Metallic 2002 model on Friday with 30K kms on the clock. A nice upgrade from a 650 XCountry.

I have been lurking a little for a while until I got the bike. I'll take some pictures and load them up during the week.

As with new owners, there will always be some questions. I cut them cable ties already and had a good look through the bike in general.

Does the clock have a back light? The speedo and rev counter are nicely lit, but the clock not? Also, the dealer gave me a trickle charger that supposedly plug into the bike somewhere to keep the battery charged. I could not locate the plug, must RTFM. But being a daily ride I'm not to fussed about the charger.

Some future mods will include a H&B rear rack, LED type tail lights and an upgrade to the headlight. I have seen a few posts here with very good information.

Cheers,

Peter

Welcome! I'm also new, several of us on here :)...but the guys here are generally very patient with us until we master the Search process. I just brought a 2004 R back from New Mexico today, and my friend there who helped me rides a 2002. He has never had a bit of trouble with his, just need to keep it meticulously maintained.

Even the 2004 has the analog clock with hands, I found that somewhat odd, but haven't looked at it in the dark so can't say about the backlighting.

Guess we need a Newbie 101 section, lol.

Hi,

I can now answer my own question. I took the clock assembly apart last night and could not see any loose or broken wires or connections. Put it back together and now I have a working clock back light. Good for night riding.

Also fitted the H&B rear rack.

I was planning a good ride for this weekend, however Sydney is very wet, it has been raining since Saturday and today does not look any better. Thus no weather for good photo's either.

Will update the post once I have some decent light and photo's :)

Cheers,

Pete
