Service manual

A while back, someone posted a link to a pdf file with a service manual for our bikes. Well, a power outage fried my computer (Even with a surge protector!) and I need this link to reinstall the manual on my new computer. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

I've got one I bought on CD over eBay very reasonably, so took a
look to see what's available.

I'm quite sure it's the same one on there right now from several
sellers, a couple of which are on there right now for under $8
shipped. That's the one with the picture of the red R1150.

One has to be careful of infringing on copyrights when sending info
over the internet. There actually are organizations that scan the
internet for transmission of copied copyrighted documents, and it
can lead to huge problems. Safest just not to do it.

I don't know where these sellers got their copies - mine says it
was printed by BMW in Germany, so - - . But that's their problem
if they aren't doing it legally.

If you have the CD, then you always have it regardless of computer
problems.

I found a way to get all my information off my old hard drive, so I now have it on my NEW hard drive. Alls well that ends well.

You may want to burn a copy on a CD, or back it up on another drive.

It's not IF a hard drive will fail at some point, it's WHEN.

Been there, done that, got the T shirt. Don't want another one.

Yeah. I learned my lesson this time. And the weird thing was that the hard drive is fine, but the motherboard was fried. They make a neat little thing that you can just plug your hard drive into, plug it into your new computer via a USB cable and you get your hard drive back. I now have two hard drives. However, I am in the process of backing everything up for the "next" time.

It's ironic how we don't think about how much we'd miss lots of the data on our computers until it's gone.

I bit the bullet and now have 3 data storage hard drives, two of which are 1 TB, and one of those is external connectible via USB. (My C drive only has apps and I've got backup copies of all the app install exe files on another drive.) And I've got them nearly 1/2 full, a lot of it technical info on vehicles that I don't think I could ever find again (I'm an old hot rodder and do nearly all my own vehicle work to incl engines, transmissions, differentials, much of which "somehow" ends up modified , plus the usual pictures and home videos that are irreplaceable. Not to mention I'm quite sure well over a thousand bookmarks for valuable info of all types that would be a total disaster to lose.

Found a very highly rated (for reliability) 1TB external drive on Amazon for actually a reasonable price. It's a LaCie in a ribbed aluminum case and can be used with both Mac & PC.

So far I've just been copying to do backup, too tedious and hit or miss.
Gonna try this one for auto backup onto the external 1TB drive - BTW this Techspot site is fantastic for downloads and the forums are super for getting computer help. This backup app is highly popular to folks that frequent this site.

You have to do some homework on surge protectors - a lot of the less expensive ones are no more protection than a power strip. But, again - -.
