02 R1150R -Starting Problems - New QD's

Post by rancox »

Put Beemer Boneyard quick disconnect kit on wife's 2002 R1150R a few motnhs ago - I honestly believe that I got everything correct. Been gone for months due to job.

Battery is charged - Nothing happens when I push the starter button - tried on centerstand , off centerstand, check sidestand, etc. The Clutch lever is also totally limp - nothing - goes back to bar. Clock keeps the time on the money -lights, etc. work. Reset Motronic - pulled fuse #5, etc. etc.

I am totally baffled - SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME.

Will she turn over if you're in neutral? (Fiddle with the shifter while rocking the bike back and forward to turn the transmission gears and dogs, look for the neutral light to come on.) If the clutch is gone, there's an interlock switch that won't let the starter run unless you're in neutral.

I'd say the "limp" clutch is the start of the problem. Sounds like a fluid leak.

I can sense your frustration, however, it is somewhat difficult to help troubleshoot without a well thought approach as there are many things that can be the source of your problem.

NoRRmad mentioned the neutral safety switch and if the engine turned over, there is also the sidestand safety switch. The clutch issue has no relation to starting, however, it does present other problems.....air in the system fluid leaking, failure of the clutch slave cylinder (good possibility), master cylinder.....

If you are still having difficulties call me at (225) 445-6922 and we can walk it through.
