Throttle Cable Question for 95 R1100R

Post by jimz49 »

I would like to convert my 95 R1100R old style throttle cable to the newer dual cable setup used on later R1100R models. My question is concerning the throttle cable control box that is located under the battery box on the newer models. What is the box attached to? Is it attached to the underside of the battery box? Is it part of the battery box? Is it attached to the frame? Can the conversion be done? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

This conversion can be done but at what cost? There are a newer set of cables that are teflon coated and don't stick which is sometimes a cause of the surging scenerio. I would research and devote my efforts into making sure the current cable ac=tuation system works properly. That should clear up any problems you might be having.

If you want to go the newer cable route probably source as many used parts as possible to keep costs down. Look to Beemer Boneyard and Cycle Recycle

This certainly is a doable exercise but as the editor of the previous post has written, get yourself as many used parts as possible. Watch out on ebay as there are plenty of parts on offer.

Next you may want to get yourself the repair manual from http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp

Best regards from Germany
