R1200R SE - Last of the line before twin-cam motor?

Post by Eagle6 »

Looks like a re-run of the "Last of the old engine" R1200GS SE

Lots of bits and in any colour you want so long as it's white.
Got to be good value?

Looks identical to the "Touring" model being sold in the US.. same "options" as standard. Same seat and bike color.

Speaking of the twin cam, does any one know if it is wider? and if it is, by how much?

Wasn't sure what you thought you were missing.

Then I went to Motorrad NZ! Must be the least informative BMW site I've seen. A picture and a price .... wow!

Those are Ozmanian $$ - worth about 1/3rd of ours..

What I found odd was the photo wasn't of the bike listed. Black mit/white was discontinued in '09..

Don,

BMW Motorrad Canada shows the 2010 R1200R still available in black mit/stripe, albeit at a $200 premium. Obviously us conservative Canucks are still buying them.

Just checked with local stealer.

Contrary to BMW Motorrad UK site, any colour you want, including black with stripe, plus any "normal" extras as per R1200R, ie ESA (which isn't listed on SE page).

Other gem disclosed by stealer is that the current R1200R will continue with "old" single-cam motor. True/False/Rumour?

My guess. Completely new model coming in 2011 with twin-cam engine.

When I clicked on the link I saw the VAT amount.
The 2010 R1200R American lists for $12795.00 base price.
The UK R1200R SE lists for $11735.09. ???
A vat charge added to the list on my bike would have brought the cost close to $14900.00.
I actually paid about fifteen thousand drive out but I got ABS and the package with the computer, heated grips, and some other stuff.

So with the VAT my cost about $17050.00 .... maybe a deal breaker.
And with tax title and license ... I think another $1200.00.

British American
1348.62 = 2053.79
7706.38 = 11735.09

I'm dizzy.

Good lookin' bike... wonder why it doesn't have wire wheels?

Actually - BMW made one (or was it two?) special R1200R's - which were raffled off for a charity in Europe.. with GS style wire wheels. They looked VERY nice (Black with white pins of course..) So... it can be done..

I suspect that's just a webpage which hasn't been updated since 2007 :)

You might be able to get black/mit/schwartz stripe.. :)
