Lipstick

Post by xprof »

Being a "form follows function" guy I'm a bit embarrassed to have put some lipstick on my "R", but I thought I'd share, in case others have the same shameful tendencies.

First, from A&S Cycles in Sacramento, the Z-Technics carbon-fiber instrument surround listed for the F800GS fits the R like it was made for it, and at only $18:

Here's the tank protector:

And here's the carbon-fiber license plate holder, mounted on a fender extender from Wunderlich (you can also see one of the F800GS mirrors):

My wife sent me out to the store to get fish for dinner, and somehow I managed to include San Marcos Pass, Camino Cielo, and Gibraltar road in the trip. I love it when she sends me on errands!

Hmmmm... I'm known as the King'o'Bling or Farkleman in our local club.. but I rarely do something for just appearances. Yet.

The tank thingie looks of interest, and I can justify it keeping my nutz from scratching up the tank or something.. The instrument surround I'd seen listed and spotted it would fit the R12R - can't say it lights my fire a bunch (it prolly looks much better in person,) but to each his own, if it lights your fire - cool beans! Some people don't even recognize that black with white pins is THE color to have.

Go figure..

Nice job Mike!

Is this like an aligator skin sort of thing you are trying to achieve? :-k :-k
Just kidding. Do what you want. I saw an otherwise nice looking 81 or so R100RS with bright orange snowflake wheels where I camped this weekend.

If I may join ? 8-[

I am not a fan at all of purely cosmetic add-ons... much rather the opposite meaning the more functional, ugly and affordable always thrills me.

But a week ago I saw a lady on the bicycle path in Santa Monica who attached a large sticker in front of her bicycle.

This large sticker was just saying "YOU'R CUTE"

And now ! I am actually seriously thinking to have something similar but a bit more discreet behind my motorcycle... I was also amused recently by a car license plate frame full of fake diamonds and I think an addition of this type of frame and a "You'r cute" somewhere would do a good job at breaking the legendary BMW seriousness while also being nicely road provocative...just the way I like...

Any other Ideas
in the same "field" of experimentations ?

Respect ! for this one

9 out of 10 morticians agree " that black with white pins is THE color to have." :)
