I haven't seen it, but it sounds like a nice idea. If it works.

I think I may try Lenny's Sprokets too when things pick up.

What are we trying to "fix" with this hack?

People are complaining about getting too many miles per gallon, and the fact that they don't have plug fouling issues - this will address both of these items, I think... ;)

I think what this product is supposed to do is pretty well covered at the site listed above.
I haven't heard of anyone complaining of fouled plugs.
I'm just immature enough to give up some gas milage for improved performance.
Seems like lots of folks in the R1100S and R1200S community are interested in this sort of thing.

I'm going for one.
I usually run all my stock bikes (carburetors) one or two jet sizes over stock and it looks like that's what this does. From what I see (read) this should perform as advertised with the sophisticated fuel delivery system on our bikes. It seems it's only in the circuit during the open loop scenario and doesn't affect anything when the ECU goes closed loop. If it works - great, if not -Oh Well, if I see something I don't like it's off to E-bay.
A year after the Valkyries came out someone started making a timing wheel that advanced the timing 6deg. Sounded like snake oil, so I went for one. Best $25 I even spent on a motorcycle. Cut my top speed from somewhere over 140 to around the 135/140 range (nothing is free) but what a difference low and mid range. It pulled hard before but now it pulls like a freight train. I let another Valk owner ride it and he couldn't believe it.
Some times snake oil really works, sometimes not.
Image

At 800+ pounds it's not a canyon carver, but it's a great road bike. Coming up on 50,000 miles, never back to the dealer and absolutely no problems. And don't tell me it doesn't have character.

Harry, You're going to want to try Lenny's Sprokets also. Supposed to give nice boost in mid range power. Maybe 9° advance.

Best way I have ever heard of making any BMW faster is to take a track day class...........just sayin'. From my FIM chipped KRS with Remus exhaust that Knute at Remus helped me set up to my 1150 RS with Lazer set up, this little 1200 R buries either of them. Stock. More power it doesn't need. A better rider ? Probably. With only a 1,000 miles under my belt on this bike, on mostly Illinois roads, I can't say I've bonded with it yet. I consider myself a pretty fast rider, but there is no way I can use all this bike has to give once I get to the mountains of the southeast next year. Money spent on this stuff would be better spent on a track day, or maybe some new Ohlins.................just my .02.

The people who have Lenny's Sprockets and the fuel enrichening devices remind me a lot of the people I talk to who have put out the tidy sum of dough for a set of Ohlins or some other brand of aftermarket shocks. They all say it was worth the money and they would NOT go back to stock.

I've read through the (very long) thread on UKGSuser regarding these gizmos - interesting to see that the initial comments mentioning 'snake oil' give way to people actually buying and fitting these things.

Pretty much everyone says they do feel a 'seat of the pants' difference in feel/driveability at low speeds with any lumpyness ironed out. On top of this there is an improvement in MPG.

It costs 29euros inc. P&P to the UK, which is worth the gamble given all the positive comments.
From:

http://www.sol2.be/Accelerator/English/index.html

This is for the 'Accelerator Module' as opposed to the 'Booster' which is about 4 times more expensive.

I'm going to give it a try, but not until Spring (snow & ice here at the moment!)

Great ideas.
Most of us haven't ridden with each other so we don't know the riding style of the other guy. The only way to know is to follow someone through a series of serious twisties or go side by side through a decreasing radius turn with an elevation change.
I'm still on stock suspension. I've seem people spend almost two grand on suspension upgrades and still couldn't find their way through a turn even if someone painted the line on the pavement. Does anyone really think that if someone spent that kind of money they would tell people that they wasted their money. So far I have no problem riding from sunrise till sunset and I haven't over ridden the suspension, when I do it will be time for shocks.
In two years I'll be riding fifty years, and that would be every year except for the three when my main transportation was a two and a half ton green truck. I've never taken a MSF course and only a few track days, I'm not proud or ashamed of that, it's just what is. I know guys that take the experienced MSF course every year and pass, but on the road they are an accident waiting to happen. The only thing that saves them is they don't put on any miles. Pushing seventy I don't have to give anything anything to the young guys on the street, at least for ten or fifteen minuets, then I start to lose concentration and start making mistakes. Good thing is, I know it. So my days of running the Kancamagus Hwy flat out or really riding the dragon are over.
I'm not a drag racer or looking to set a land speed record so blasting off the line or going flat out in a straight line don't interest me. I'm a street rider (at one time I would say racer) and really enjoy the bang that a big twin gives me coming out of a turn so my interest is in mid-range.
Now back to my coffee ;)

These representations caught my attention:

"Improved and softer throttle response when rolling the throttle on-off. This makes the bike smoother to ride."

"Remove the Jerky low speed running that is typical for modern lean burn engines."

Both of these issues annoy me about the R1200; neither were issues with the R1150. If there's a simple, DIY solution, I'm all ears; but this hack, if it delivers as promised, sounds good to me.

It has never been on my mind to try any of those modules because I am quite happy with the performance as is. Very low speed cornering can be an issue of lack of smoothness. I attributed that to the gearing though. However, if the guy ships to the US, for the price I would consider it worth a shot just to try it and see what it is about.

I looked through a dozen or more pages from the link provided, but couldn't find a dyno run.

I remember people saying that they could feel more power with those "split fire" spark plugs, then someone did a dyno run and found out different.

I think I'd rather put the $$$ towards a power commander, exhaust, etc.... something that I KNOW will add more power/reduce weight.

Maybe im just a bit jaded, but untill someone shows me some proof, it's just snake oil to me.

It's more about better throttle response/acceleartion rather than an outright power boost.

Recent post from UKGser which nicely sums up the Accelerator gizmo;

Recieved mine today and fitted it to my 08 GS1200Adv within minutes. Probably covered about 40-50 miles today on a mix of roads. My opinion is this; that for £29 delivered it's a steal! You won't find anything out there to boost your bikes performance at that price. My bike is noticeably livelier. I reset my MPG and during my mixed riding it returned to 44.8MPG from around 46. It's really hard to tell because I don't ride the same roads and it's very cold today which I believe decreases fuel economy also! I was looking into a Power Commander + Dyno = £500 then Yonko mentioned this device. At first I thought it was a gimmick! Anyways bought it out of curiousity as it was only a few pounds and it's the best £29 on my bike I've spent. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not ruling out a Power Commander in the future and this Accelerator is only a small improvement imo BUT it's a good improvement. Accelerator has made my bike ride the way it should have been from the start! Conclusion, very happy with what it offers - brighter & livelier on acceleration. Highly Recommended!

I never was found of strapping a bike down on a dyno and letting someone I didn't even know wind the snot out of my bike unless it was a race bike/car and I was trying to get every last horse out of it. But this thing appears easy to install (move) and I would have no problem letting someone wind the snot out of your bike. ;) ;)

All I'm expecting out of this thing is a slight improvement in mid-range and if it costs a few horse on top or a few miles per gallon, so be it. I think we'll all agree these bikes run on the lean side and I don't think that running just a little richer across the whole range will hurt anything. I only have a limited knowledge of how the fuel management system works, but if this thing works as advertised it only richens the mixture on acceleration.

When STP came out I had a co-worker put it in his car and he swore that at 60MPH his engine was turning 500 rpm slower. Try as I might i couldn't convince him that was impossible. People hate to admit they threw their money away.
